Attended the Like Performing Love Sony Grand Finale last night! It was held at Shuffle Bistro Bar, Clarke Quay.

As I was there early, I watched as the contestants did their sound checks. Probably nobody noticed, but check out the cool lamp designs! It's the cover meant to cover food, isn't it so interesting!? *.*

Host for the night was Celebrity Emcee, Benjamin Heng! It was my first time seeing him in real life.

Audiences found themselves letting their hair loose as the night started with local band 53A for the opening act. I've been noticing them for quite some time now, support local bands, woohoo!

Some of my company for the night. We're there to support the boys, Chester and Sheybab! ;D

Whooooo~ Superstar!

My luminous light board is indeed very useful for everything.

Chester + Sheybab performed Ain't No Sunshine, also their audition song.

You can watch the video below of their performance that I recorded in their previous competition. Alternatively, you can take a look at their audition entry here:

If you were wondering how did they join this competition because people who knew them should be aware that they're not exactly people who would sign up for outside competitions (hidden treasures!)... Actually I signed them up one lah hahahahahaha, so generally I'm like their manager! Not bad, not bad at all.

Chester - Vocalist, Harmonicist and Guitarist extraordinaire.

Sheybab - Rapper and Bass, nigga! NYPD!

The Top 12 finalists of the night! Well done everyone, you're all immensely talented, say real one! ;D

I had an enjoyable night thanks to the awesome company! It's a pity that the group we were rooting for did not clinch the champion title, but you guys know that you're the best in our hearts! <3

Even though the event is over, I want to comment though, about the bad management because it is a major concern of mine. The crowd control was horrible; there wasn't enough seats, people just snatched away our tables like that, and some of the crew were plain rude. My friends who were the finalists were the first to arrive and do sound checks, so basically they were like the guinea pigs. Doing only 1 round of sound check is fine, but how can they demand my friends to get off stage when they're only halfway through their song!? Half the time they were timing my friends, the other crews were fixing the microphones that were not working. It was plain unfair.

Also, during the competition itself, I was expecting some comments from the judges since it's a competition, plus it's the highlight of ANY competition. What more when they're all supposedly the higher ranked people in Sony, Sony EMI, etc. But no, there were no comments at all from them throughout the night. Of course, I respect the final results, but how do you expect me to accept their decisions without hearing how they truly felt about each of the finalists?

Just sayin'.

Decided to go sunny Prints on Prints today! Loving my entire outfit because they're all brand new, hehehe! ^_^
Yay! It's time for another giveaway! ;D

With the advent of urbanization, the ever-changing lifestyles and a rapidly aging population, it's no wonder that our lives are more demanding than before.

Have you thought of the following questions:

"How can we help better people’s lives, by balancing their physical, emotional, and mental well-being? How can we ensure that cities, communities and homes are more energy efficient, and more livable, so that we are safe, secure and comfortable in our environment?"

"How can we make a change in Singapore that can help people live better healthier and more meaningful lives?"

Well, Philips did! That was why they launched The '+' Project. You can find out more here:

Last night, I attended the annual NP's Got Talent competition in Ngee Ann Polytechnic's Convention Centre. There were 15 outstanding acts from various schools competing for that 1 spot. I remember having my jaw hanging from all the good performances displayed on stage!

Congratulations to Chester and Shabab from School of EE, overall champions of the competition. You can check out their performance here:

Le trophy.

I found some people's reaction and the way they acted to the results of the Top 3 winners and some of the performers very distasteful though. Well like the saying goes: "Haters gonna hate", jealousy is not going to change anything. Just because the performers are not as popular as the rest or they are not your friends, it doesn't mean that you can put them down. I don't understand why you can't give them your support too.

Why did the winners win? Simply because they performed something that was different from the rest, something original. And the judges loved it, they salute them for that. You see, this "talent" thing is very subjective. Then again, who are you to judge the judges ability to come up with the final decision? Are you more professional than they are? Why can't you appreciate, celebrate and congratulate the winners for the job well done?

I understand that a lot of support were given to singing performances. Sure, it's no doubt that there were pretty good vocals and powerhouses present in the competition. I personally know the winner Chester himself, and I've always known him to be a fantastic vocalist, just that the song choice did not allow him to portray the best of his vocals last night. But at least he played the harmonica, paired with a great rapper and bassist like Shabab, making the song like their own. Also, there's a reason why it's called NP's Got TALENT and not NP SING OFF.

Anyway, congratulations to all of the performing acts. All of you are winners in your own unique way! ;)

Falling In Love With Fall

Fall rolls in with brilliant reds, oranges, and golds, and even if this is not your preferred color spectrum, it’s hard not to feel the excitement! Fall is all about getting cozy with your favorite warm drink and getting out to enjoy the brisk weather, but what are you going to be wearing when you do so? Check out some of these
fantastic fall fashions for you!

Wrap Up!
If you are looking for a lovely bohemian look this fall, skip the structured jacket, and go straight for the wrap. A triangular shawl with fringe is a great choice when you are thinking about adding a little bit of drama to your shape--with its straight lines and lovely patterns, is perfect for nearly any occasion. If you get a nice long wrap and pair it with some leggings and boots, you’ll find that you have some great choices available to you.

Hats, Hats, Hats!
This fall is all about accessories, and if you are someone who gets cold, opt for an adorable hat. If you like vintage, slightly formal looks, choose a cloche. With its drooping sides and fantastic felted texture, a cloche is a great choice for you. If you want something a little less structured, consider a slouch hat knit out of several
bright colors. As the weather gets even colder, consider using a slouch hat with matching gloves to ease into the winter weather as well!

This fall, we’re seeing a lot of matching going on. Women’s shoes come in a wide variety of colors and textures, so take a moment to make sure that they match your outfit. Red ballet flats, black leggings and a red top can give you that vibrant pop of color that you want to use to stand out this fall. If you want to take it one step further, look at your accessories. We’re seeing a lot of people who are invested in making sure that we have lots of accessories to choose from, so think about choosing earrings and bracelets that match your current look. This is something that can make a huge difference to how you present yourself.

When you are ready to make sure that you are properly equipped for the winter weather, look at your clothes. Are they what you want to be wearing this fall? Fall is a fantastic time to experiment, so feel free to go a little crazy!

In order to stop procrastinating about blogging and having a long break in between, I am going to post more fashion posts from now on! I think the way I dress, my "style" and all is not that bad, hahahahahahaha why so shameless. Anyway, this is also to create more personal content on this blog, because I find a lot of blogs losing this very important point nowadays.

Anyway, look at what I found recently!

Necklace from Actually. I find the details really interesting. It is a tad pricey though, I can do one by myself!
As I have previously mentioned, I will be having a giveaway! ;D

Let's thank Singapore-based design start-up, OuterEdit, for this giveaway! You can visit them at

OuterEdit works with top graphic creatives from around the world. The aim of OuterEdit is to celebrate the faces & processes behind the names of graphic design. They treat these as integral components to the value ascribed to their T-Shirts.

They create artwork through a fresh online, collaborative & real-time format called the 'O/E Collab'. It showcases the graphic skills and human demeanor of acclaimed creatives within the 5-way group context of an O/E Collab. So in Episode 12 of Let's Talk 3, the topic was about Depression. You can view the episode here:

According to Wikipedia: "Depression is a state of low mood and aversion to activity that can have a negative effect on a person's thoughts, behaviour, feelings, world view and physical well-being. Depressed people may feel sad, anxious, empty, hopeless, worried, helpless, worthless, guilty, irritable, hurt or restless. They may lose interest in activities that once were pleasurable, experience loss of appetite or overeating, have problems concentrating, remembering details, or making decisions and may contemplate or attempt suicide. Insomnia, excessive sleeping, fatigue, loss of energy, or aches, pains or digestive problems that are resistant to treatment may also be present."

All of us have gone through a series of upsetting events before. Feeling sad is something normal and a part of our lives, which is why many of us aren't aware that we are in fact depressed, thus paying less attention to it.

Depression can be quite scary. It affects a person in both physical and mental ways. When taken too seriously, it can even lead someone to death. Even though depression is obviously bad, it is also an obstacle or debris in our path of life. I realized that people who do suffer from depression become somewhat euphoric over artistic works and creativity.

I, for one, am like that.

Don't see me blur blur and seem to be always happy... I am actually pretty fragile. I have never ever mentioned to anyone about this before, and I tend to bottle things up inside for fear that people judge me or don't bother about me. I opened up during the show I suspected that I suffered from mild depression before. Despite the signs, I didn't go to the psychiatrist or anything so I wasn't clinically diagnosed, because I thought that it didn't pose much of a problem.

My part got cut off because I said stuff that probably could not be broadcasted in Singapore (which is why sometimes I don't like living here coz we cannot express ourselves fully, but that's another matter). I wasn't doing good in anything + I am a perfectionist, also I had trouble communicating with people (huge quarrels with classmates, got bullied and stuff), thus I had thoughts of becoming a terrorist and killing people I didn't like, because I blamed them for who I became, and for my sadness. I think I had those thoughts partly because of all the terrorist news going on during that time (I honestly thought of joining them before, sigh what was I thinking...), and because I played a lot of computer games that required me to kill enemies.

The guest speaker told me that it was a sign of violence, and I agree with him that we should think of learning from the process and do better than we are to prove to other people that we are better than them. After being sad, I thought through about what was wrong and tried my best to improve myself. People laughed at me for being ugly. So I tried to improve my looks with make up, go for facials, even did an operation to remove this huge black mole on my forehead. People bullied and looked down on me because I was too quiet and didn't dare to express myself, didn't dare to fight back. So now I look for more opportunities to prove my worth, and one of the best examples I have, is this award winning blog.

Also, I am more into fashion and dressing up now partly because I see it as a form of art and creativity. I get to express how I feel through pretty clothes! I get to match them however I like it! Which is why when people ask me to describe my style, I'll tell them: "Random, eccentric, and according to how I feel."

I also do a lot of walking and thinking. Other than that, I listen to all sorts of music to let it all out, scream, sing and calm my soul.

I still feel very upset sometimes, no doubt. I understand how it feels to be constantly rolling the boulder uphill and then watching it roll back down when I reached the top. I work for years to get one little result. Nobody can be 100% happy their whole lives.. But it is through so many of these processes, I have learnt how to be stronger and work out a solution for myself. You see, we are so much stronger than we thought. Not to brag or anything, but I have proved to many people that I am not the weakling they thought I was. Because I had the will to make the change.

And secretly, I enjoy the shock they get.
That's right.

I know I haven't been updating the blog as much (guilty as charged), because my life has been hectic until cannot. For new readers or people who forgot how I look like (STM much?), this is me on a normal day:

November is the start of many awesome things, and I am ready for them!

So what have I been up to? Well, the usual stuff like boring school work and endless of procrastination... As you can see, I am proud to announce officially that iisjong is now a part of the Myfatpocket community! *squeal* You can check me out here:

I spend a lot of time reading interesting articles on the website about all the girly stuff (I am probably one of the most ungirliest girl around so I learnt quite a lot). Being part of this community has been an aim for me ever since it first started out, because a lot of popular (and super pretty) bloggers like Miyake and Celestina are a part of it. It's almost like every girl blogger's dream?

Now that I have "fulfilled my dream" (am very thankful :']), it's like *ding ding ding* Achievement Unlocked! To celebrate the happy occasion, I am holding a giveaway that's coming up this week! Stay tuned for it!

Also, I will be taking part in a fashion competition which will be shown on MediaCorp Channel 5 (fyeah, no longer need to stress about speaking proper Mandarin like in Ch U's Let's Talk hahahaha). You can say that I am currently spending all my effort on it, doing all the fashion research and stuff coz I WANT TO WIN! So kind souls, please bless and mention me in your prayers that I win this thing, ok? I also pray to all the Gods! Good people will have good karma ;)

Other than all those, I am also in the midst of talking to my blog skin designer, because is getting a new face lift (no botox involved) and a domain! *insert screams and applause* I find my current blog skin very messy, but I am lazy to re-do everything, so I push everything to someone else hehehehe xP

Life is looking pretty positive, and I hope it stays this way! Juggling with everything is tough, especially more for a struggling student like me, but I CAN DO THIS!
